What We Do

Bizness Babes is an energetic program that offers business training and support to any mum who has an idea and needs the means to make it happen. It’s a program by women for women who want to be in business! At the end of the program you will have great networks, great friends and even (just maybe) a great business.

The program is a dynamic and progressive way of addressing some of the challenges that confront women when trying to balance rearing a family with earning an income. Through training workshops and ongoing support, Bizness Babes assists women through the business set-up phase and beyond, covering areas such as finance, business planning, research, marketing and communication. We are also big on enthusiasm, motivation, energy and gossip from the business world.

Expert guidance and resources are provided and all business proposals are researched, examined, pulled apart and then rebuilt as carefully-constructed business plans that have the best possible chance of succeeding (and if they don’t we try again!). We invite businesspeople to come and share their journeys, encourage ongoing mentor relationships, and offer micro-financing through grants and interest-free loans, to help mums get their fledgling businesses off the ground. It’s even great to find out what didn’t work.

The program is based on four key principles:

• Innovation and self-employment can provide a pathway to a healthy bank balance
• Developing enterprise is a pathway to broader engagement with the wider  community
• All women have the right to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to function successfully in life, and to secure rewarding and worthwhile employment or self-employment
• Parents and women have the right to access opportunities in a safe and supportive environment.

Established in 2006, Bizness Babes has already helped scores of marginalised mothers to create new businesses, and we look forward to helping many more as the program extends to more cities and regional areas around Australia.
