Our History

Since its beginnings in 2006, Bizness Babes has provided training and ongoing support to scores of marginalised mums in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Originally established by The Body Shop in conjunction with the federal government, the program is now sponsored by the Wise Foundation and actively supported by The Body Shop and The American Express Foundation.

Throughout these years, community support has been the key to our success. A number of successful businesspeople have participated in the program as guest speakers and mentors, enriching the experience for the mums through sharing their stories of highs and lows. Our sponsorship from the Wise Foundation and partnership with The American Express Foundation ensure our continued success, and we are able to offer micro-finance through grants and interest-free loans, to help get these fledgling businesses off the ground.

We’re constantly inspired by the passion and commitment of the mums we’ve worked with. To us, there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing their success stories over the months and years we work with them. We love to watch them thrive as they, and their ideas, continue to attract the respect many thought previously that they did not deserve.
