“My business is called ‘greensacks’ and our aim is to produce a range of reusable produce bags, helping to reduce the use of plastic bags and other non-recyclable packaging in our community. Our first product is a reusable fruit and veggie bag. The idea came from my own desire to find an alternative to using the small plastic bags on offer in supermarkets and green grocers. I had tried different ways to avoid using them but my strategies didn’t work too well. I gave it further thought and came up with the idea of making a calico bag.

I held onto this idea for a least a year and did absolutely nothing about it, until I saw an ad for the Bizness Babes Program. That moment changed my life. I wouldn’t have a product (it’s not made of calico!) or a business without this program. The support from The Body Shop and the other mums has been fantastic. I have never felt alone in this as there is always someone to call if I need help or encouragement.

It’s an exciting time now, as I have just approved a sample of my bag. They should be available late March. I can now see my dream becoming a reality and this would not have been possible without Bizness Babes. The support from The Body Shop and the other mums in the program has been unbelievable – still continuing after 12 months! Anything is possible! You just need to believe in yourself and whatever it is you’re trying to achieve. I can’t wait to see Green Sacks become a household name.”
